On Wednesday night in Serie A, Juventus had to wait until the very last minute to defeat Cremonese, but an incredible last-second free kick from Arkadiusz Milik saved them from looking foolish.
Juventus’ ranking in the top four is solidified by the win, which is their fourth straight in the league dating back to before the World Cup, and Lazio’s loss to Lecce.
Juve made a total of 19 attempts on the Cremonese goal, some of which were long-range potshots, but they were unable to beat goalie Marco Carnesecchi.
However, Cremonese actually had the ball in the goal twice first. A foul was committed just seconds before David Okereke’s goal, and Emanuele Valeri was ruled to be offside before heading past Wojiech Szczesny.
Federico Chiesa, who came on for Juve in the second half, gave the team a boost, but Cremonese came close to seizing the lead again when Cyriel Dessers hit the post.
It appeared as though Carnesecchi’s squad would win the game with a point after a run of saves in the final 20 minutes; however, Milik scored a long-range goal in stoppage time to give the Juventus a victory.
