The Serie A club Lazio announced on Friday that they had completed the free transfer signing of Japan international midfielder Daichi Kamada.

After his contract with German club Eintracht Frankfurt was not renewed, Kamada, who turned 27 today, became a free agent and was able to sign with any team.

At the beginning of the summer, there were quite a few rumours going around saying that Kamada would be moving to AC Milan. In spite of this, it became abundantly clear that the club no longer had any interest in pursuing Kamada after they released Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. After several clubs in Spain showed an initial interest in him, Lazio surfaced as the club that had the most serious intention of pursuing a transfer for him.

Kamada is said to have signed a contract with Lazio for two years, with the option to extend it for a third year, according to reports in the Italian media.
