Inter have strengthened their position in the top four by moving up to 66 points, which puts them one point ahead of Lazio in fourth place and five points ahead of their neighbors AC Milan, who are still in fifth place despite suffering a shocking loss of 2-0 away at Spezia on Saturday.

In the first few minutes of the match, both teams had a goal disallowed because of an offside call, and Lukaku missed the goal with a shot that went just wide of the post before finding some space and rifling a shot from a distance into the back of the net to give Inter the lead.

Sassuolo got off to a poor start in the second half when Tressoldi scored an own goal for Inter while he was attempting to intercept Raoul Bellanova’s cross. This doubled home lead. After another three minutes, Martinez scored from a long distance with a shot that was assisted by an unfortunate Tressoldi deflection. The score was now 3-0.
