After squandering a lead in as little as nine minutes and suffering a stunning loss at home at the hands of Sassuolo, Inter have seen their perfect record ruined and have been overtaken by Milan at the top of the league.

Inter were anxious to keep their perfect start going, remaining the only unbeaten team still in Serie A after six rounds, but Marko Arnautovic, Juan Cuadrado, and Stefano Sensi were injured. Despite this, the Nerazzurri were the only unbeaten side left in Serie A after six rounds. At the weekend, Sassuolo defeated Juventus by a score of 4-2 and celebrated the return of Andrea Consigli from injury.

Marcus Thuram went on a sprint down the right side of the court, and Consigli got a leg on the pull-back, which made it tough for Lautaro Martinez to make the easy tap-in.

When Matteo Darmian performed a spectacular and extremely daring sliding tackle on Andrea Pinamonti, Inter almost found themselves vulnerable to a counterattack from their opponent.

Thuram missed the goal with a header from six yards out on a cross from Denzel Dumfries, and Martin Erlic was able to keep him from scoring on another assist from Dumfries.

Berardi’s back-heel flick released Jeremie Toljan just inside the box, which resulted in a great goal opportunity for Sassuolo, but Yann Sommer made a diving save to keep the game scoreless.

Nedim Bajrami’s shot forced Sommer to make another save, but Inter would score just on the stroke of halftime to take the lead.

Dumfries, who was on the right side of the field, had initially tried to roll the ball across for his teammates. However, he then took on Matias Vina, cut inside, and finished with his left foot into the far bottom corner of the goal.

In the stoppage time, there was still another terrifying moment brought on by Hakan Calhanoglu’s poor header back to Sommer, who was once more forced to make a hasty retreat in order to prevent Bajrami from scoring.

Erlic produced another important interception while Lautaro Martinez was poised to pounce on the lost ball, but the defender truly should have equalized when his free header on a Berardi cross from Sassuolo’s corner routine brushed the far post instead of scoring the equalizer.

Sassuolo was able to draw level when Berardi played a through ball to Bajrami. Bajrami’s angled shot stunned Sommer by sliding under his body into the near post from 12 yards out.

Inter still wasn’t ready when Sassuolo absolutely turned the game around thanks to a moment of brilliance from Berardi, who cut inside from a distance and curled a fantastic left-foot strike into the corner of the goal.

Simone Inzaghi believed that Consigli had fouled Davide Frattesi when he rushed out to fingertip the Carlos Augusto cross off of his feet; however, the referee and the VAR both decided that Consigli had gotten to the ball first.

Klaassen made his Inter debut in the final minutes, while Armand Lauriente squandered a good opportunity and then forced a diving save out of Sommer. Penalty kick claims were turned down since the referee had seen Alexis Sanchez push Matheus Henrique in the first place.

During the stoppages, Francesco Acerbi attempted a chest and volley on a pass that was played over the top, but he shot it right at Consigli, and Lautaro Martinez missed the goal after Dumfries had done a fantastic job setting him up.

In the end it was Sassuolo who emeeged victorious over Inter. Berardi is currently the player who have scored the most against Inter.
