Olivier Giroud suffers injury during international break

Olivier Giroud, Milan’s center forward and a member of France’s national team, suffered an ankle injury while playing for France and was forced to leave the game. This is unfortunate news for Milan.

This evening’s EURO 2024 qualifying match against the Republic of Ireland was played in Paris, and Giroud was selected to start for his team.

Before the rest of the game began, he had already received some treatment, which consisted of spray being administered to the left ankle.

At the 25-minute mark of the game, Giroud made an attempt to continue playing but slipped while attempting to receive a cross from his partner, Theo Hernandez. The experienced player then signalled to the bench and requested a substitution.

The legendary player from France, who will turn 37 later this month, took off his left boot before walking off the pitch, evidently in pain. Marcus Thuram, a forward for Inter, was brought in to take his place.

The fact that Milan will have to play a Scudetto battle against their fiercest rivals, Inter, on Saturday following the break for international duty is the worst news possible for Milan.

Giroud got off to a blistering start to the season, as he notched four goals and an assist in only three Serie A matches to start the campaign.
