AC Milan vs Juventus : Match preview and possible lineups

Last Updated on 08/10/2022 by

With a victory over Juventus in Serie A at San Siro on Saturday night, AC Milan will be in position to take over first place in the league.

After Napoli and before Chelsea, it’s Juventus. This season, San Siro will host only important games. The Rossoneri need to atone for their Champions League defeat on the ninth gameday of the season, and they want to get back to winning at home on a significant and challenging evening.

The Rossoneri are coming off a Champions League defeat at Chelsea and are currently fourth in the standings with 17 points, three spots behind Napoli and Atalanta. Since the performance in London fell short of expectations, there will be a need for a response and a display of resolve on the field. Since the 3-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb at San Siro and the 3-2 Derby victory in the league, there haven’t been any victories. The stadium will once again be able to make a difference in the effort to resume winning.

Despite the limited time available to prepare for the game, one particular but significant piece of news from Milanello deserves special attention: HernÑndez is healthy and already prepared to start again, giving Pioli access to a vital new tool. Calabria, Florenzi, Ibrahimovic, and Saelemaekers are still out, as are Kjaer, Maignan, and Messias. Although the main news appears to be about the attacking midfielder, there could be a few small changes between Tătărușanu in goal and Giroud in attack.

After a trying and unsuccessful period, the Bianconeri have recently rebounded by defeating Maccabi Haifa (3-1) in Europe and Bologna (3-0) in Italy. However, given that Allegri’s team is currently only seventh in Serie A, they are still uneasy. De Sciglio sustained an injury this week, and Di Maria’s suspension will be felt. With Szczesny in goal, Bonucci leading the defence, Locatelli in the middle, Cuadrado and Kosti on the wings, and the Vlahovic-Milik duo (not 100%) in attack as the biggest danger, a repeat of the 4-4-2 is likely. Also keep an eye out for Rabiot, who scored two goals in the Champions League in July 2020.

Probable Lineup for Milan (4-2-3-1)Tatarusanu; Dest, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Krunic, De Ketelaere, Leao; Olivier Giroud

Probable Lineup for Juventus (3-5-2): Szczesny; Bremer, Bonucci, Danilo; Cuadrado, Locatelli, Paredes, Rabiot, Kostic; Dusan Vlahovic, Milik
