Serie A Team Ranking for 2022/23 Season

Last Updated on 13/08/2022 by

New season of Serie A is upon us. This year there gonna be some very interesting battles as teams are already built up quite nicely.

However, while some people are very enthusiastic about the new campaign of Serie A, others are taking a more cautious stance. In essence, everything depends on how the summer transfer market has developed, which raises or lowers expectations depending on the transactions made by each club.

Transfer Market is still open and it can make some miracles for teams until the end of August. We would’ve basically do this after the the mercato is done but well let’s get it done while we can.

20 – Cremonese

Coach : Massimiliano Alvini

Cremonese put up a nice fight last season to get promoted to Serie A. However we think that they will fall short on the squad strength. They are not yet built for top tier yet and will be fighting in the relegation zone.

19 – Lecce

Coach : Marco Baroni

Lecce having won Serie B last season, still falls in squad strength somehow. even their fellow promoted clubs have better squads in our opinion. It will be a miracle if they secure a safe spot this season.

18 – Selernitana

Coach : Davide Nicola

Selernitana had a miraculous escape from relegation last season. But after selling Éderson to Atlanta, they haven’t made any specific signings which can cost them the safety spot in Serie A.

17 – Spezia

Coach : Luca Gotti

La Spezia has some good runs past 2 seasons. They played some good football and beaten big clubs at times. But with new managerial changes and no significant market investments, it will be a little difficult for them to find the same spark. We can be wrong though, but I see them fighting for the safety this season.

16 – Empoli

Coach : Paolo Zanetti

Under coach Andreazzoli empoli have played some amazing football last season. But with new managerial change and loosing some of their star players, I don’t think it will be the same as last season this time around.

15 – Bologna

Coach : Sinisa Mihajlovic

It doesn’t matter how much we like Sinisa, but after selling some of the important players like Hickey, Svanberg, Thate, etc. I don’t think we will be seeing the same charm in the club as last season. However they retained Arnautovic, which is a little relief. I currently see them comfortably in lower mid table.

14 – Sampdoria

Coach : Marco Giampaolo

Not a big fan of Giampaolo. Some of his tactics are out of my mind. Sampdoria had a horrible season last year but somehow ended up in safety zone thanks to the playes like, Caputo, Candreva, Quagliarella. After selling their flair Damsgaard to Brentfort and with bizzare tactics of Giampaolo, i don’t think they will preform any better than last season.

13 – Hellas Verona

Coach : Gabriele Cioffi

Under Igor Tudor’s leadership, Hellas Verona had their best campaign last season in Serie A. But now Tudor left and the new coach will certainly have a trouble replicating the success of past season. This is due to their main stars like Caprari which already left the club for Monza, Simeone can also leave for Napoli. Compared to the departures they haven’t made any significant signings.

12 – Monza

Coach : Giovanni Stroppa

I am giving quiet high place for the new boys of the league and that is for a reason. Monza has made some outstanding signings like Pessina, Caprari, etc. With a great experience of Berlusconi and Galliani in Italian Serie A this team can make miracles this season.

11 – Torino

Coach : Ivan Juric

Torino had a lost great deal of firepower in form of Belotti as a free agent and the great wall Bremer to Juventus. They will be having struggles but I have great faith in Ivan Juric’s playstyle. Torino have played some wonderful football under Juric and they will continue to do so.

10 or 9 – Udinese

Coach : Andrea Sottil

Udinese is without a doubt one of the most physical team in Serie A. After the departure of Molina and managerial change, i still see udinese competing for top half of the league. The still have the core of their main team from past season and players like Beto and Deulofeu can really make something happen out of nothing.

10 or 9 – Sassuolo

Coach : Alessio Dionisi

I have put Sassuolo and Udinese to compete for 9th Spot. Both teams are on par. Sassuolo have sold their main threat Scamacca to West Ham, Raspadori can also be on his way to Napoli. Other than that Sassuolo have kept majority of their core intact with every performing Berardi, Fratessi, Lopez, etc. It will be a tough competition at mid table.

8 – Atlanta

Coach : Gian Piero Gasperini

This is no disrespect to any Atlanta Fan in the world. But after having a disappointing last season in Serie A and loosing place in european competitions. Despite making addition like Ederson, I don’t feel the same flair in Atlanta like before. However i would love to be wrong here.

7 – Fiorentina

Coach : Vincenzo Italiano

Fiorentina has played some beautiful attacking football under coach Italiano. They have made some crusial signing this summer like Luka Jovic from Real Madrid, Dodo from Shaktar, etc. I just love the playstyle of Italiano and i think Fiorentina will be able to secure their spot in Conference League this season.

6 – Lazio

Coach : Maurizio Sarri

Immobile will probably be Capocannoniere this season too seeing his previous records but that is all is see in this Lazio. If they retain Milenkovic-Savic then it will be huge thing for them. They will still have some struggles to retain top 6 spot with Fiorentina lurking around.

5 – Napoli

Coach : Luciano Spalletti

Napoli has been disappoiting this summer. They have lost most of their firepower already. Koulibaly, Mertens, Insigne are some big names to loose for sure. Even though they reinforced a bit, i still don’t see the quality in them. Hope this transfer windows will work wonders for Napoli.

4 – Juventus

Coach : Massimiliano Allegri

Juventus have made some really impactful transfers this summer and there is still a window open to bring in some more. What worries me more is lack of attacking play-style even after having so much attacking powers. Players like Di Maria, Vlahovic are great at doing what they are supposed to do. I am not seeing Chiesa to be impactful for some time due to returning from Injury but once at his best the trio of Di Maria, Chiesa and Vlahovic is a deadly weapon. Surely a force to fear but if not played some attacking football, i don’t see them compete for top spot.

3 – Roma

Coach – Jose Mourinho

I understand all the “we will win Scudetto” chants but that’s that. No offense to any Roma fans. Roma have a great squad and the new signings they made are just Mama Mia!! Tammy, Pellegrini, Dybala, Zaniolo is some dangerous firepower in the attacking department. What i think is Roma is totally built for top 4 finish this season. They need to continue on this base and improve their squad further and i can see them competing for top spot in Serie A if they manage it for 1-2 seasons.

1 or 2 – Milan and Inter

Coaches : Stefano Pioli (Milan) / Simone Inzaghi (Inter)

At this place i am sure that scudetto will end up in Milano. Both the Milan clubs are better equipped than all the remaining teams. Inter having back the partnership of Lukaku-Lautaro and Milan adding talents like De Kaetelaere, Adli and Origi.

Being a Milanista from past 20 years, i will root for Milan for sure, but i don’t want to take away anything from Inter. On paper Inter is more equipped, deadly and physical team than Milan. On the other hand Milan is more technical and collective effort type team. The physical grit of Inter and their attacking style is a site to watch for sure. While Milan has played some beautiful high press attacking football under Stefano Pioli. This year will be one hell of a show for the top spot and i wish both the teams luck.

Well this was my prediction for the 2022/23 season of Serie A. I hope to get proven wrong at some places. But what i can tell for sure is that this season will be very intense and surely will give us some goosebumps.
