Although Udinese has had a strong start to the season, they will face one of their toughest tests this weekend when they host Inter, who are expected to challenge for the Serie A title.
Prior to kickoff, Inter actually sat two spots and one point behind Udinese, but they are only two points behind Napoli, Atalanta, and AC Milan and could pass all three with a victory.
In two of the last three league meetings between Udinese and the nerazzuri, at least three goals have been scored, so we anticipate more of the same on Sunday. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in four of Udinese’s and three of Inter’s most recent six games across all competitions.
The last time Udinese traveled to Sassuolo, they were down 1-0 at halftime. Udinese continued their stellar start to the season and moved into the Champions League spots with a superb 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Samardzic and Beto in stoppage time. Beto restored parity between the teams in the 75th minute.
Last time around, the Nerazzuri was expected to defeat Torino at home with relative ease; however, the hosts have failed to capitalize on strong starts to the season. Inter Milan avoided embarrassment thanks to a goal from Brozovic in the 89th minute, which also gave them a much-needed victory. While currently in sixth place, Inter is only 2 points behind the top three teams, who are all sitting on 14 points, so it hasn’t exactly been a terrible start.
Possible lineup for Udinese – Silvestri, Becão, Ebosse, Pérez, Udogie, Pereyra, Arslan, Walace, Lovrić, Deulofeu & Isacc Success
Possible lineup for Inter – Handanovič, Darmian, de Vrij, Škriniar, Dimarco, Dumfries, Brozović, Çalhanoğlu, Barella, Džeko & Lautaro Martínez
