Inter vs Lecce Match Recap

Inter Faced Lecce on the Matchday 1 of Serie A 2022/23 season and began their season with a last minute win.

Inter take a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break at the Stadio Via del Mare, with Lukaku’s goal 2 minutes into the game the lone difference on the scoreboard. On the field, though, the visitors completely dominated proceedings from start to finish, forcing their opponents to chase shadows for the majority of the first session. Only a smidgeon of insurance escapes Inzaghi’s side, who were utterly unproven at the back as wave after wave of attack was launched. The hosts struggled to connect their midfield with the attack on a consistent basis, as Strefezza was an isolated figure, failing to locate striker Ceesay with a pass just once.

As the second half began, Assan Ceesay’s excellent touch starts the counter-attack for the hosts, prodding it over to the left side for Di Francesco. The winger pushes forward towards penalty box and nudges a pass forward for the attacker, who scores with his left foot in the far corner.

After regaining control following the comer’s clearance, Dimarco has a second chance to produce a cross and sends an incredibly precise ball towards the far post for Dumfries. Falcone can only watch uneasily as the freshly introduced wing-back makes a spectacular leap but is stopped by the woodwork.

At the dying moment of the match, Denzel Dumfries scored an incredible comeback goal from the corner sent by Barella and shot along the way by Martinez. It was a game of grit for both Inter and Lecce but ended up in Inter’s way.

Man of the Match – Denzel Dumfries

There can be another choice but come on, the man saved inter from getting a draw on opening day.
